Good day

This was a fun day. It was the begining of October and we had time off of school for UEA (the teachers union here in Utah). We went downtown and we hiked up Ensign peak. While we were hiking we met three different families who knew someone that we knew. One of them knew Aunt Anita in Houston. Then we went to memory park (war memorial) and had a picnic. After that, we went to the city library and looked around and borrowed a few books. It was great. The kids were all pretty well behaved. After that, we went home and the youngest zonked out because we wore them out running up and down Ensign peak.

Wedding Pictures

Here are links to our wedding pictures. The first two folders have the Houston pictures. There are some really good pictures of the whole family (or most of the family) and some really good ones of the brothers. And, of course, I'm kind of partial to the pictures of the bride and groom.

The third folder has pictures from our reception in Carrollton. They are in random order because they are a collection of photos taken by several people.

Wedding Reception

Pics of a few family members & friends

My camera is very bad, but I try to take pictures occasionally any way. I took just a few at Josh and Jen's place the day of Jen's baptism. Most are blurry, but there are a few good ones in the bunch. My camera works better with the flash, but I didn't want to continue flashing a bright light in everyone's faces while they were trying to visit.

Cute Gillian Pictures

Here are some pictures of Gillian from our wedding last year. Chris thought they were really cute, so I thought I'd share them with everyone. Gillian is such a beautiful girl!

Stephen, Sarah and Dante Update

The day that Dante turned six month old, Sep 30, I asked my mom to take a few pictures with her good camera. Here they are, there are a few really funny ones in the bunch.

Dante Six Months

In other news, Dante has been eating solid food now for about a month. He really enjoys eating. He eats everything from baby rice cereal to slices of bread to Grandma Anguiano's Cheesy Potato Soup. The potato soup is a new food. He ate it for dinner tonight and he really loved it.

He also has his first tooth! It has been pushing on the gums for about a week now, but today, after eating the potato soup, was the first time that we could actually feel the tooth. When I see my mom next I'll try to get a picture of his tooth to post.

Dante is also pushing him self around a little now. He's been getting up on all fours and rocking for a few weeks, but he would usually face-plant when he would try to move forward. Now he can push himself forward a few inches at a time to get to a toy he wants. Won't be long now before he's actually crawling.

In other news, I have started running again! It feels so good to get out and exercise. Dante comes with me in his stroller. He's very good while I'm running although it is a little extra work for me to push him along as I go. I'm super slow and I only go 3 miles right now, but it's something!

To Adam: Stephen and I feel your pain. Stephen works during the day and has class three nights a week. I'm only in class one night a week, but I have another online class and both my classes have a lot of work I have to do. And you're right about the brain. There are only so many hours that one can study or read textbooks at a time before the brain turns to mush. I've reach the mush level several times this week as I have midterm projects and papers I'm working on.

To Connie: Yeah! It's so nice to see pictures of your family and to have you join us on the blog!

I look forward to seeing pictures of Halloween costumes!

Lilia's Teeth

Well, her teeth are finally coming in. I'm sure I'll live to regret it once she starts biting things (i.e. me). They're so cute and I thought I'd share them with you. These pictures were not easy to get. The macro feature requires that the subject be very still and Lilia kept covering her teeth up with her tongue.

Enjoy.

Discount Windows 7

I thought I would let all you tech savvy know about this discount. You can get Windows 7 Home Edition or Professional for $30.

The only downside is that it is an upgrade license and not good for a complete install. I prefer to do a clean install rather than an upgrade but if you can decide for yourselves.

If someone who is not a student is interested in my copy just let me let me know and I could get it for you. Hooray, Windows 7 is here!

I am still learning this.

I wanted to try and post some family pictures.

I think I signed on okay

Thanks Adam for posting Isaac's B-day pictures for me. I got the blog invite and I hope this is working. I am just seeing if I can post on the family web site now.

My New Schedule

I prayed for a long time to get a job and now I have one. It is a great blessing but one that requires a lot of sacrifice. The work I'm doing is essentially what I have been doing for years. The hard part comes from my schedule.

I work Monday to Thursday from 7 am to 5:30 pm. In and of itself that's not bad but every Tuesday and Thursday I have class from 6 pm to 10 pm. The rest of the time I spent reading and writing just trying to keep up with my homework. In fact, I should be working right now but sometimes studying has a diminishing marginal return to scale. For ever additional hour of studying I get less and less benefit. My mind seems to turn to pudding and I just stare at a page.

Lilia is getting her first tooth. She has been in a foul mood for the last few days because of it. I'm sure her version of foul is mild compared to many children but it sure has made things more difficult for us. She is a lot more vocal and loves to play with Papa. She is adventurous and loves to play hard.

Laura was called to be the Relief Society President last week. She felt overwhelmed at first but I think she will do a great job. She is a hard worker and can be a great leader when she needs to be. I'm sure her calling will make us even busier but I know that the Lord is in it. I'm just grateful that we're are doing so much better. This kind of stress is normal for me but not having a job was getting to be too much.

Thanks to all of you who prayed for us. We always appreciate all the help we receive from you all.

My first day at work went well. It will be a chore to work a 10 hour day and then drive to a 4 hour class two nights a week but nothing I can't handle. The first day was kind of boring (they never seem to be quite ready for you at first). I shadowed some people and got a tour of some of the facilities. All the people there seem nice. I think I will enjoy working there.

Our friend Stacy had her baby on Lilia's half birthday. In fact her baby was born at almost the same time as Lilia. Lilia had some bananas for her birthday meal and she really loves them. I'm not surprised considering how much her mother loves them.

Laura has decided to take that babysitting job I mentioned but will just do it two days a week to start. It will mean some extra money for us and hopefully we'll be able to hold on to part of our savings. We'd really like to have that when I graduate so we can use it as a down payment on a house.

Here are some new pictures. I have it setup to update automatically so check back to see if there are any new ones.

Quick Update

Here are some more pictures of our little one. She is growing up really fast.

She is starting to eat different kinds of food (sweet potato, squash, carrots, etc.) and loves to play. We recently spent some time painting Laura's parent's house and Lilia enjoyed the time she got to spend with grandma. She was really good during the road trip. We've been spoiled by a well behaved child. I included some pictures in case any of you care to evaluate my work.

I got a job and will be starting work sometime next week. It's not the best paying job but it is better than none at all. It's an IT job for the county of Riverside. The position lasts for 6 months but the department heads made it sound like if I do well then I may be hired permanently. I also started classes Thursday and it's going to be a long quarter. Between work, school and family I'm going to be pretty busy.

Well, got to get ready for church. We love you all and hope you are doing well. Thanks for the posts and helping us keep in touch.
